Microgaming’s very slick looking mobile casino lobby greets you when you land at Jackpot City Mobile Casino. Black, grey and pink are the order of the day but if I’m being picky I don’t like text in grey against a black background, I find it difficult to read and pick out on a small screen. However there is a nice big button inviting you to play!

For the record, all mobile casinos that use Microgaming’s “GO” HTML5 mobile platform like Jackpot City will have pretty much the same games with the exception of the odd bespoke one (in this case, the Belle Rock slot which is just a Thunderstruck clone). Check out the 32Red Mobile Casino Review and you’ll see what I mean. There are now several Microgaming-powered operators on our Top Mobile Casinos list and yes, you guessed it…all the same 🙂
If you have Auto logon set to on, you will not be able to play in Practice mode, so leave it off if you want to practice and get to know the games. Then when you’re happy, switch auto logon on. Word of warning though, Auto logon will do just that so if your worried about security and access to your account, I’d leave it off.
You will have to press the practice logon twice, where as the money logon is only once, the cynic in me knows which one they prefer you use 😉
Annoyingly, if you’re a newbee to online mobile gaming, you don’t immediately know what type of game your going into, so I’ve listed the games above in categories (above) to help point you in the right direction. So although the lobby (pictured) is well laid out with a series of icons across the bottom that allow you to manage your gaming experience, some descriptions of the games and in particular, the slots and what they offer would have been helpful.
Again, this is the same at all the Microgaming-powered mobile casinos, such as 32Red Mobile Casino and Roxy Palace Mobile Casino, so you can’t really blame Jackpot City for this.
A mixture of swiping and tapping is needed to operate all of the games. Sometimes you think you should be swiping when what is needed is a tap and visa versa but it doesn’t take long to get used to it. Helpfully, they have provided some hints and tips as you enter some of the games, but this is not consistent across all of them. However I did find these difficult to read on the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S3 android smartphone, especially in portrait mode.
As with most mobile casinos we have reviewed, Jackpot City mobile casino – although quite playable on the hand held device such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Sony Experia Z3 Compact I used for this review – is better suited to a tablet as you get a more rewarding experience on the larger screen that a tablet invariably provides. And it looks great on the iPad’s retina display by the way!
Overall, I was pleased with the interface and layout of the Jackpot City mobile casino and once up and running found it easy and straightforward to play all of the games. It looks slick and plays slick – a much nicer experience that Playtech’s setup (see the Betfair Mobile Casino review for more) right now anyway.
Customer service at Jackpot City isn’t quite as good as it is at some of the UK bookmakers reviewed here, with cash outs taking a couple of days longer than most, mainly because they are based in South Africa and utilise a reverse withdrawal period. But they do tend to be a lot better than the bookies at bonuses and loyalty rewards for long-standing players so it depends what you like.
